    When ordering our pre-carved, slot-head neck to use with the PL29 parlor guitar plan, please be aware of the following: The PL29 plan features a guitar with 24.5" scale and the pre-carved neck that we offer is a 24.9" scale neck. As on the old Martin O shaped guitars, many of the small-sized guitars being made today use a longer scale. Doing so locates the bridge nearer the center of the soundboard, thus "sweetening" the sound. Be sure that you place the bridge (and bridge plate) according to the 24.9" scale length on your guitar and not according to the placement shown on the plan!

    Acrylic template, small concert (parlor), Martin-style (ref: SPT8)

    Each of our complete body templates is the precise outline of the guitar based on the plan referenced. Each has the top bracing and bridge placement etched on the template with holes cut to allow the braces pattern to be easily transferred to your top. The soundhole is cut out as well for easy transfer to your top. These templates are laser engraved from 1/8" thick clear acrylic (less brittle than extruded acrylic). It's useful when grading wood (for seeing if a defect in a piece of wood falls outside of your pattern area) and when making jigs and bending forms.

    Mold and shoe set - Parlor/small concert, for LMI bending machine (ref: SPMOLD8)

    LMI's small concert mold is made to specifically match the PL29 Scott Antes plan, but the shape is very close to the PL45 Martin 1918 1-18 plan. These plans are compared in the images at left.

    One mold is included with the bending machine, but additional molds can be purchased separately.

    Our bending molds are undersized by 0.200" (5mm) to allow for the slat/wood/blanket/slat stack height and wood spring back so don't expect them to match the plans or templates exactly.

    Our side templates are the exact width of the guitar side depicted in the plan. We recommend you profile your sides adding 1/8" to 1/4" width on either side and an inch or two at either end. This extra material can easily be removed later with a plane or when radiusing the sides using a dish. Doing this gives you a little wiggle room when building.
