ZipFlex strips are the newest innovation designed to make inlaying shell purflings and shell rosettes a snap. The strips are 15" long with a depth of .055". There is a very thin rubber strip on each side of the shell keeping it intact that measures about .008" (.004" each side). This strip ends up looking like a super-thin purfling line and it is very attractive.
We don't have a bit that works specifically for this sized Zipflex. If you're using it for a rosette ring you'll have to make multiple cuts.
The traditional method to install shell purfling has been to install a Teflon strip along with the purfling elements and then, when all is dry and set-up, the Teflon is removed, leaving an open channel into which shell strips are inlaid. On the other hand, since it is flexible, ZipFlex strips can be installed right along with the purflings and binding in one simple step.
As with all items being inlaid, wait to rout until your item arrives.
