SPCC

Rosette/circle cutter

$108.48

This tool is great for marking and cutting the rosette trough, the soundhole, and the soundhole reinforcement material. It is well suited as a marking/cutting tool whenever a radius is called for. The SPCC is milled from aluminum and the soundhole diameter is adjustable from 1.9" (48mm) to 6.5" (165mm). The blade is high carbon steel made by Ron Hock. Wrenches are included.

NOTE: Make sure that the flat side of the blade faces the ledge that is to be 90 degrees. On the initial pass, rotate the cutter slowly as you move into the grain to avoid tear-out. Be sure to keep your blade sharp.

Things to keep in mind

An excellent tool that works well, but:

1. If you work in metric units be aware that the diameter of the rod is 0.25 inches -- about 6.35mm.

2. When scribing a shallow cut on spruce or cedar, be very careful hot to let the end of the tool contact the wood as it rotates -- otherwise it may scribe an additional circle that you'll have to sand out.
