Plastic makes a good binding/purfling due to its resiliency and ease in bending. We are transitioning to all .250" tall plastic trim. You can rip taller material down if there is any concern about cutting your binding ledge through your kerfing although this shouldn't be a concern unless you have a very thick ledge. Reversed kerfing allows for a wider/deeper slot than standard bevel kerfing if that is a concern.

Caution: Never rout for your bindings, backstrips, or purflings before you receive them as dimensions can vary slightly.

The chemical names for plastic acronyms are as follows:

  • ABS - Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
  • PVC - Polyvinyl chloride
  • CAB - Cellulose Acetate Butyrate

NOTE: We offer different plastic compositions because not all dimensions are available in one particular type of plastic. All compositions behave similarly and can be glued up using our binding adhesives.
