Great Value

If Chris Monk of Highline Guitars recommends a product, then it's generally worth checking out. This digital gauge is no exception. It's simple to use and is extremely accurate. I use it the way Monk recommends, and the results are fantastic.

A huge improvement over rulers and feeler gauges.

An absolute must if your serious about your action and measurements. My using this I realized I set the radius ever so slightly wrong on one guitar because when measured the g string was slightly higher than the b string. But I couldn’t realize that by using a string action ruler. The lines are too small and don’t go into fine enough measurements. And I could always feel it way off when I played. But now I’m certain with this digital gauge. I can set the radius with a much higher confidence. Just measure the outside e’s and gradually and evenly increase in height from the low e to the high e. You can also use it to check relief if you capo the first fret and get the 12th or last fret held down. Then measure the gap with the string as the straight edge.

Great Tool

I have tried 2 other string height gauges at nearly double the price and they didn't come close to the accuracy and ease of use of this gauge.

Great idea BUT....

Great idea, but very poorly made. I'm a machinist by trade and build guitars as a side business so I'm use to well built tools of the trade. This is the first tool I've not had a great experience with from here. Be very careful with battery cover, the little catch pins on the side broke just getting it open to install battery, it's now taped together to work, be careful installing the battery, has to slide in a certain way or you'll bend the negative terminal strap. A bit too much slop in the slide. Ended up throwing it a drawer and going back to my calipers. Maybe the second version of this tool these issues will be addressed.
