B/S Lacewood, dreadnought
Lacewood, also known as Silky Oak, comes from eastern coastal Australia and is coveted for unique figure and the dramatic, shimmering chatoyance it exhibits under a finish. It has a pleasing pale brown color and is also a great candidate for dyeing. Lacewood is a medium density tonewood that has become a 'holy grail' for those looking to impart a well-aged Mahogany punch to a finished instrument! Do not confuse this wood with Brazilian Lacewood (Roupala brasiliensis) which is harder, very difficult to bend, and is darker in color (but has a very similar 'lace' figure).
