Khaya heel blank, 2nd grade, 12" x 3" x 7/8"

This 12" heel blank is meant to be used to create a multi-piece laminated heel which is affixed to the neck blank.

Khaya has often been overlooked as a substitute for Mahogany. Though it is an attractive wood, the wide pores, lighter weight, and pinkish color we usually see in this species clearly distinguish it from "the real thing". We have found that there are different strains of Khaya that look nearly identical to Honduran Mahogany - or at least present themselves as the best substitute we have come across so far!

Second-grade necks and heels may have one of the following: small knots or pinholes that will not affect the integrity of the neck; they may be off quarter as much as 50% (45°); the grain may not be perfectly straight; there might be unevenness of color.
