Product Description

Video: LMI Yellow Glue.

Here’s why we like FGX:

  1. Excellent sanding properties. Will not gum up sanding belts like most glues (a problem with FG and others), and soundboards are spared messy sanding residue from the glue
  2. Discreet florescent dye additive allows you to clearly see (in black light) “invisible” glue residue that can ruin a finish, saving untold hours spent repairing finishes
  3. Easier than other glues to clean up
  4. Dries harder than other commercial glues (some believe this makes it a better “tone transference medium”)
  5. Excellent hold strength with a variety of exotic woods, including oily woods like Cocobolo (though common sense cleaning and surface preparation should be used on these woods)
  6. Clamps can be removed in 30 minutes, even in warm temperatures (though it’s best to wait an hour or longer); you can begin machine sanding (which introduces heat) in as little as 90 minutes if you are in a pinch for time
  7. Repairable; joints separate at around 190 degrees (about the same as FG) but more heat resistant at lower temperatures
  8. Non-toxic, environmentally friendly

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS ABOUT FGX

Q: Has this glue been used to make guitars before?
A: Yes, it has been extensively tested and has already been used to make hundreds of guitars of various types.

Q: Is there a difference between white and yellow glues in general?
A: Not chemically. Yellow dyes are sometimes added to glues (not by us) for marketing purposes only.

Q: Have we seen this glue marketed to instrument makers before?
A: No, and by the way, we feel it is very different and much better than Titebond, despite its similar appearance.

Q: How should I store the FGX?
A: Do not freeze, room temperature (70-85 degrees F) is best. One year shelf life under worst-case conditions, much longer when stored properly. Best to use at room temperature – will chalk at cold temperatures.

Q: Will the UV additive show if the performer plays the guitar under black light?
A: With proper joinery, you will not see the glue line. Glue should not be used to fill gaps in any case, and doing so would create the only case where it would be visible.
