The  Power Fret Slotting System allows you to have accurate, stable, and repeatable fret slotting capability in your shop.

The basic system doesn't include saw blades, stiffeners, or templates as we know many people will already own them. They can easily be added.

We feel it's critical to use our blades and stiffeners for the best possible outcome. Many table saws come with blade stiffeners but most aren't appropriate for slotting with very thin blades. 

Detailed instructions for both the Slotting System and the Wedge Index Spring Pin are attached here and will be included with the jig. The written instructions are more in-depth but watching the videos will show you the ease of assembly and use of this tool.

Stiffeners are the true heart of our power slotting system. They are made of heat-treated steel, are 5 1/2" in diameter, and each is .125" thick. This configuration controls blade runout, extends the life of the blade immeasurably, keeps it from deforming, and ensures accurate slots in your fretboard. Typical table saw stiffeners are simply not adequate for this system.

    These stiffeners are made in the USA. They are fully hardened to keep them from being damaged which would prevent them, and therefore the blade, from running true. The arbor hole is precisely machined to ensure that the stiffeners run concentrically. The faces are ground to ensure a smooth accurate width of cut.

The Power Fret Slotting System is designed to accept a half template (unlike the Manual Slotting System which requires two halves joined). This choice is optional in case you have already purchased templates. Note: Only our Mix 'n Match slotting templates work with this system. Our older 2-sided templates are not compatible. 

If you need a different scale length, you can order a custom template in the next step.

    This tool is designed as a transfer gauge to measure fret slot depth with a digital caliper or machinist’s rule. It's made from acrylic and .020" shim stock to fit into most fret slots. 

    This tool is made from clear acrylic. We left the paper on it here to better show up in the photo.

We think you'll love this system for its ease of use. The Wedge Index Spring Pin makes moving down the fingerboard a breeze.

MADE IN THE USA at the Luthiers Mercantile Production Facility.

This system is made to work with LMI's Mix 'n Match Slotting Templates. The basic jig includes the unassembled sled and carrier.

Optional items include:

  • Saw Blade
  • Stiffeners
  • Mix n' Match Templates
  • Zero Glide Miter Bars
  • Slot Depth Gauge

All optional items are available on this page and the price of the jig will adjust as optional items are added or removed. Optional items included with the PSS1 are discounted 10%. 

This jig does not work on a Saw Stop saw.
