The LMI Manual Slotting System is designed around our large selection of precisely machined polycarbonate slotting templates, so this tool will enable you to cut accurate fret slots for many scale lengths.

The miter box is assembled from HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Bearings to the surface guide the saw, making the jig easy to use. The miter box is tailored to our .023” pull-stroke fret saw just right for most standard fretwire options. A fret saw and a template of your choice is included in the system.

The system will accommodate up to 3 1/2" wide boards and can work with any smaller size that is large enough to be clamped. It works efficiently and effectively and can pay for itself very quickly.

Note that each template is a half template. For the LMI manual slotting system, you need two templates connected together (3 connectors are included with each template) - CHOOSE 2. You can use either 1 or 2-joined templates for the Power Slotting System.

You can mix-and-match templates so you only purchase the templates you need - template blanks are available. 

IMPORTANT NOTES ON CUSTOM TEMPLATES! You can choose to order a customized template but you must then go to the next section and enter the scale length that you want for that template. Neglecting to do so will delay your order. Please allow 2 weeks to manufacture custom templates. Your entire order will be held until custom templates are complete. If you order 2 custom templates, be sure to enter both scale lengths!

There is a charge for a custom template but we have discounted it by the dollar amount of a non-custom template. You must have chosen the part number SPTCUST above. 

Enter the scale length of the custom template you would like us to produce - from 12 - 40 - in either millimeters or inches. Enter the scale length in inches to 3 digits past the decimal point or in mm (ex: 24.375" or 619mm)

Please allow two weeks for us to produce this template. If you order a custom template with other items, the entire order will be held until the custom template is complete. Custom templates are non-returnable, non-refundable. 

The number of slots that will be included on your template:

  • Scale 12.0-14.0 - 20 slots plus the nut (21 slots)
  • Scale 14.001 - 20.0 - 26 slots plus the nut (27 slots)
  • Scale 20.001 - 40 - 30 slots plus the nut (31 slots)
