Because the 3/8" pillar file cuts only on the wide faces, the narrow edges being smooth, it's great for ramping, saddle work, and seating the nut. It is also used for filing fret ends.

The file measures 5.75" OAL. The tang is approximately 1.5" tip to the shoulder. The file is tapered along the thickness measuring approximately .060 at the tip increasing to approximately .100" at the file end. The filing length is approximately 3.5"
