Carbon fiber neck reinforcement, 1/8" x 3/8" x 24"
Carbon fiber exhibits so many of the qualities useful in fine instrument construction — namely, low weight, stiffness, stability, resistance to fatigue and creep. Its low weight and high stiffness – three times stiffer than steel on a weight-to-weight basis, 80% as stiff on a cross-sectional area comparison – offers many advantages to the guitar builder.
Without fear of fatigue, fan braces (between which a sheet of carbon fiber has been laminated) can be shaved down considerably, allowing the top to be more responsive to string energy.
Neck reinforcement stock can be laminated in such a manner that the reinforcement continues through the peghead joint, reducing flex and therefore reducing energy loss to the head area.
Note: The tolerances of our reinforcements are +/- .015" of the advertised dimensions, not to exceed .015" overall. You should not rout the channel for this fiber until you receive it to make sure you have a snug fit.
