Top Adirondack Spruce, 2A grade, classical/000/OM

Adirondack Spruce was used for the tops on many of the great pre-war American guitars. Many guitarmakers today believe that this wood is a significant contributing factor to the strong, clear tone of those vintage/collectible instruments. 

In general, the visual/cosmetic quality in use today by the best builders and high-end factories (typically the 2A tops) has more grain and color variation than either good Sitka or Engelmann Spruce - but that variation has been accepted in acquiring and working with this fine, great sounding wood.

If you would like to have your rosette inlaid, we will inlay it as shown in the rosette photograph. This customization includes the joining and thickness sanding of your soundboard to approximately .110".

If you have elected to have us join your top, you may also wish to have us profile it. We will profile your top to the shape you choose leaving approximately 1/4 inch of extra material beyond the outline. This excess material can be removed later, once your box is complete, using a router with a flush trim bit or by other appropriate means.

    We profile to the 1966 Ramirez plan (plan SKU PL28, template SKU SPT1). This is very close to both the '37 Hauser plan (plan SKU PL64, template SKU SPT14)  and the '43/'48 Hauser plan (plan SKU PL40, template SKU SPT2)(they are both slightly smaller but very close) so this customization will work for all three.
