Mandolin Arched Tops

At Luthiers Mercantile International, makers of F-Style mandolins find soundboard wedges and rectangular blanks from a variety of traditional Spruce tonewoods, including (when available) Adirondack or Red Spruce, Engelmann Spruce, German Spruce, and Sitka Spruce. During times when our master grade (or 4A grade, as they are more commonly called) is not available, you can assume that the 3A tops will offer quality acceptable for fine, handmade mandolins. In the lower grades, you can expect a small compromise in the cosmetics of the wood in exchange for a great value. Find out why many of the top mandolin luthiers trust LMI when shopping for soundboards. As always, we welcome your suggestions to help us select the right tonewood for you.
