“Dear Sir,
A few months ago I placed my first order with you and built my very first guitar. Ovangkol back and sides with sitka top.
I have been a craftsman for a number of years, rebuilding antique pianos, including making new soundboards and bridges, and decided to try my hand at guitars after buying a Taylor 814ce.
The results of my first attempt were surprising, to me and to others. Since I'm a bit "old-school" I built it entirey by hand, no table saw, router, joiner etc. (I did use a driss press!). I have already received requests for custom made guitars, and from a store interested in selling them.
It really helped to find quality supplies, all in one place, so I could start this experiment - which may just turn out to be my next and final career.
Many Thanks.
ps. I have just placed a second order so I can start making a few more......”

Guitar Molds

See guitar mold in use.

Our precision guitar molds are CNC machined from 3/4" Light Density Fiberboard (LDF) making them lightweight but sturdy. They are laminated to 2.25" thick, so they are thick enough to be robust, but thin enough to give you room to work on your instrument while it is in the mold. Because they are CNC machined, they perfectly match the plans they were derived from, as well as the corresponding acrylic guitar templates. The spreaders run the length of the sides keeping the guitar box tight in the mold, but they leave room for gluing up the heel and end blocks.

  • MOLD2 is based on our PL40 1043 Sr. Hauser guitar plan drawn by Jeffrey Elliott. It also very closely matches the PL64 '37 Hauser plan drawn by R. Brune (length and width are a few thousandths different). This mold is for builders who decide to incorporate a bolt-on or dovetail neck joint into their instrument rather than the traditional Spanish heel. The SPT2 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.

  • MOLD3 is based on our PL48 Dreadnought guitar plan drawn by Scott Antes. The SPT3 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.

  • MOLD8 is based on the PL29 Parlor (small orchestra) guitar plan drawn by Scott Antes. The SPT8 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.

  • MOLD13 is based on the PL34 OM (orchestra model) guitar plan drawn by Scott Antes The SPT13 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.

  • MOLDJ185 is based on the PL72 jumbo plan drawn by Scott Antes. This plan is based on a J-185 style guitar. The SPTJ185 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.

  • MOLDJ10 is based on the PL55 plan drawn by Rick Micheletti. This plan is based on a J-200 style guitar. The SPT10 is the corresponding acrylic guitar template.
Note: These molds are precisely machined based on the guitar plans referenced above. The plans themselves may be assymetrical, and if so, the molds are also assymetrical. The molds have a top and bottom and a left and right and they are not necessarily interchangeable.
