Testimonials

Hello! My first-ever order arrived today. I had ordered some wood items and they are GORGEOUS! Smooth, perfectly flat!, and the woods themselves - with each one I pulled out, I just kept saying, WOW!, *WOW*!!!, over and over.  And thank you so much for the beautiful piece of East Indian Rosewood - it was described as "2nd grade" I believe, and I asked for a reddish color if possible, and I think this piece is absolutely stunning! These really exceeded my expectations! Thank you!"

Hygrometer

SPECIALTYHygrometerSPHGzoom
It seems that among guitar builders that the hygrometer is often the last tool purchased, but depending on where you live, it can be one of the most important. Further complicating matters, it's not all that easy to find a good hygrometer. We offer a good German-made one, one that has been in use in our shop for over fifteen years and still going strong. It's certified to be accurate within ±3% over the entire range of 0 to 100%. Mechanically linked to precision bearings and gears, there is no need for external power or batteries. The unit is completely self-contained in an attractive solid brass case. 6" overall diameter, case drilled for wall mounting. A must for serious luthing!

NOTE: Hygrometers have a tendency to drift over time. In order to provide reliable data, they should be calibrated annually. Calibration can sometimes come close to or equal the price of the hygrometer. Fortunately, Abbeon (www.lufftusa.com), the distributor of these Lufft hygrometers offers an inexpensive in-house calibration service. If you need more assurance of accuracy than this, they also offer NIST certification calibration performed by an outside calibration laboratory. We found the price of this more extensive calibration to be very competitive.
