"Just letting you know the order arrived and everything looks to be correct and all good. I also found that you found the perfect length Macassar Ebony fretboard blank for my “outside of the box” acoustic project, it also has amazing striping throughout, all as per my request, thanks heaps for doing that! It looks incredible! Thanks heaps for the great service again!
Fret files are made for rounding or crowning frets after leveling them. We carry a couple of different options:
The FFR fret rounding file is for medium-sized fretwire and has two cutting hollows of equal size. One hollow is a coarse cut (bastard) for efficient chip removal, and the other is a fine cut (mill) for more accurate dressing. Use this file with our FW74, FW72, or any other medium sized fretwire.
The FFR2 file is for wider fretwire and has the same coarse and fine cut hollows. Use this with our FW27, FW75, FW110, and other jumbo size fretwire.
The FFR and FFR2 files are mounted to "Rosewood-like" tintul handles.
We also carry a Fret File Set of 3 tool steel files, FFS. There is a narrow, a medium and a wide file and each file has two equally sized cutting edges. The cutting edge of the medium and wide file extends to the flat surface (see photo), so it is necessary to tape off the fingerboard (always a good idea, anyway).
Each file in the FFS set measures 7 3/8" long x 5/8" wide with a 4" cutting edge. The colored rubber handles enable you to get a good grip when filing.
