A simple and elegant solution to bridge clamping is offered in the Fox bridge clamp. Charles Fox, of CFox Guitars, has used these clever clamps for the many years he's been building classical and steel string guitars. Two clamps are offered, one for steel string guitar and the other for classic. The great advantage to these clamps is the ability to easily clean up glue squeeze out immediately after clamping. It's a fairly awkward task when using four or five bridge/brace clamps, or five Klemmsia-style cam clamps. In the case of the steel string bridge, there are no other clamps to obstruct cleanup, and with the classic clamp, using only two bridge clamps along with the aluminum Fox clamp, makes cleanup very quick and easy.
As pictured, the steel string clamp is cut to resemble the profile of most steel string bridges (E.G. Martin™-style) with slots that allow for alignment with the thumb screws and the outside bridge pin holes. Simply insert the screws through the outside bridge holes, reach through the soundhole, thread on the washer and wingnuts (shown in photo) and tighten. Next gently tighten down the outside handled screws, using shims to protect the bridge face. You can then immediately wipe off any squeeze-out.
The classic clamp requires the use of two bridge clamps or two Klemmsia-style cam clamps. Since only about 2" of the top/bridge interface is obstructed, glue squeeze-out is easily cleaned up. Made of machined, black, anodized aluminum.
