Archtop Guitar Tops
Sitka Spruce archtop, Peter Hopkins
Wood for archtop guitars is becoming more difficult to procure due to the amount of material required to produce it and the high cost. As a result, the wood we are able to get is not as pristine as in the past. For the most part our archtop material is clean and relatively homogenous, but there might be a minor squiggle in the grain or some other minor defect that we feel can be worked with. Often if there is a minor defect, you can carve so as to eliminate it, so plan carefully.
