Testimonials

"I’m about 10 tops into a stack of 40 cedar tops I got from you, and whenever I want to start a new guitar, I just walk over and pick a top off the stack, and start building.
They are all that great! I don’t have to dink around with the pattern, or select the “best" one: I just start building. I love that!  I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your high standards, and what a pleasure it is to do business with you!"

Maple Electric Tops

Figured Maple is available in both flame and quilt figure; in premium, strong, good, or subtle grades; and in either top plate (Les Paul) thickness or drop-top thickness.

Our subtle grade has figure that may not appear very distinct in the white, but good staining or shading techniques can bring out a beautiful, soft moving affect. In the better grades, the wood will be distinctly figured in the white and with good contrast and figure throughout most of the pattern area. This is what you are used to seeing on vintage Les Paul™ models. The best grades have the highest degree of contrast and intensity of figure and are the hardest to find and acquire. The higher grade quilted tops are the rarest, and thus more expensive than even the finest flamed top. The highest grade tops of both the flamed and quilted tops really are something special and will give an instrument a dramatic, eye-popping appearance. See how LMI describes FIGURED WOOD.
