Testimonials

Greetings,

I recently ordered a couple of Bearclaw Sitka guitar tops and I wanted to let you know that not only did they arrive safe and sound but they are beautiful. Amazing figure! Having been less than satisfied with some wood suppliers over the years it's comforting to know that LMII has consistently come across in both quality and integrity. I never have to worry and that's a wonderful thing!

Thanks again,
Marc Beneteau

White Ash

Fraxinus americana

White Ash is a species native to the United States. A cousin of Swamp Ash (same species, different region) which is a wood commonly used on solid body guitars, White Ash is typically denser and stiffer as the trees grow in higher elevations (along the east side of the continent). It’s harder than Maple and has a slightly more complex and lively tap tone. Very light in color, with a subtle gray cast, expect straight vertical grain lines of light brown. Of course, the most striking and attractive aspect of this wood is the intense, tight curl pattern that rivals the most highly figured Maple. This is a wood that begs for an amber, rust or burnt orange dye coating, or better yet, a sunburst finish.  It requires some pore filling, is stable and glues and finishes well. Bending is not intrinsically difficult but because of the heavy flame, additional care is required.
