“I have seldom had experience with a company with such careful attention to customer satisfaction. Although I am sure my orders are smaller than most, your products have been of the highest quality and your responsiveness to my special requests have always been treated with respect and timeliness. My thanks to all of your staff."
Ishpingo is a stunning wood from Peru that is virtually unknown in the lutherie community, but passed all our tests for stability - and it bent easily, despite it's dramatic grain. Most importantly, it is light weight and has a round, present tap tone that, while similar to Mahogany, exceeds it in volume, crispness and complexity. All sets feature deep, three dimensional ribbon figure. The color lands somewhere between gold and light amber. It is porous, but treated with the proper fillers (try our new Chemcraft fillers) and a high gloss finish you can expect a surface of great depth and chatoyance. The icing on the cake with this fine wood is that is harvested with great care for the species, it's environment and the Peruvian communities that helped bring it to market.
2nd grade sets have some small, very faint, dime-sized color blemishes and are a great value for wood with such strong figure.
