Testimonials

“Dear Sir,
A few months ago I placed my first order with you and built my very first guitar. Ovangkol back and sides with sitka top.
I have been a craftsman for a number of years, rebuilding antique pianos, including making new soundboards and bridges, and decided to try my hand at guitars after buying a Taylor 814ce.
The results of my first attempt were surprising, to me and to others. Since I'm a bit "old-school" I built it entirey by hand, no table saw, router, joiner etc. (I did use a driss press!). I have already received requests for custom made guitars, and from a store interested in selling them.
It really helped to find quality supplies, all in one place, so I could start this experiment - which may just turn out to be my next and final career.
Many Thanks.
ps. I have just placed a second order so I can start making a few more......”

Tuning Machines

TUNERSSchenkGUITAR500
Tuners on a Schenk guitar
LMI offers a broad selection of tuning machines for steel string and classical guitars, as well as several for bass guitars, mandolins and banjos. The majority of these tuners are from the Schaller®and Gotoh® (Pronounced “Go-Toe”) product lines with additional hand made classical tuners from Alessi, bass guitar tuners from Hipshot™, and Grover economy machines.

GOTOH® Tuning Machines
Gotoh machines are head-to-head quality competitors with the longer established Schaller machines. Over the years, many major hand makers and factories have come to prefer them over the Schaller tuners. They are more competitively priced than the Schallers™, and this may be the deciding factor for some. The selection of classical tuners available from Gotoh is certainly broader in both quality/cost and variety, providing economy models to models used on some of the finest guitars in the world. We carry their popular 'contour' line (510) tuners, and their new line of open back tuners with brass gear wheels (made especially for LMI) are sure to please those who prefer a vintage-style tuner.

SCHALLER® Tuning Machines
Schaller is one of the first manufacturers to use a cast, sealed, and lubricated gear housing, and their machine has been copied by many. With removable and replaceable buttons, tension adjustable by tightening the knobs, and threaded hexhead bushings, Schallers are still one of the better values in a tuner.
