“I recently purchased a beautiful fingerboard from you and now I am thinking of grabbing fretwire from you as well. Unfortunately I'm cheap and lazy and find myself here asking if it is possible to pay more to have your fretwire radiused before it is sent? You guys would be the coolest ever. No matter what the outcome, I will be sending more business your way from here in Maine. Hoping for good news! Thank you!"
NOTE: Allen wrenches are not included with truss rod
The TRS-style truss rod was developed over twenty years ago by Bill Lewis in collaboration with Michael Gurian, of Gurian Instruments. It's based on the truss rod of the old Vega Banjos. Rickenbacker Guitar has also employed a similar rod for many years. Thousands of these truss rods have been in use, and are still in use.
Over the last several years we have made a few refinements. We now use a brass stop block, and have made the broach of the truss rod nut a little smaller so that the walls of the Allen keyway are thicker.
The TRS is wrapped with nondegenerating plastic for protection from deterioration. The plastic covering is also protection against "rod buzz" and makes it unnecessary to use glue or silicone.
The head is not needlessly weakened by excessive cutting away where the head meets the neck, and in turn, a narrow 3/8" cover plate is adequate; and the rod is easily replaceable (if need be) since no glue is required.
Please Note: With the exception of the TRMR made in Japan, all of the truss rods we carry are made, inspected and tested in the USA. Still, we urge you to carefully inspect each rod you receive to make sure it meets your specifications. Once installed, a truss rod can be extremely difficult to replace or repair. Put each rod in a vise and turn the nut beyond its normal range of adjustment (turn it both ways if it is a two-way rod). As with all of our products, LMI is not responsible for any effect of a defective truss rod, or any related costs, beyond the price of the truss rod itself. In keeping with our return policy, we are happy to replace or refund the cost of any rod that you are not happy with. Please call for a return authorization number within 2 weeks of receiving your order. Modification of the rod in any way voids your warranty.
