Testimonials

“I'm doing some wood binding today, and I pulled out a few pieces of curly maple I've had for a while that I bought from you. It never ceases to amaze me how LMI, above all my other suppliers, just consistently gives me materials that never fail to surpass my expectations. No matter what any picture on your site looks like, whatever I get is always better. Really appreciate it. I know that you supply many other people far beyond my volume and talent, but I am definitely a customer for life!"

Smaller Guitars (OM, 000) by Scott Antes

The plans on this page answer the call to those requesting plans for smaller guitars. Drawn by Scott Antes, a mechanical engineer by training, with a long history of instrument building, his experience and expertise are well illustrated in these fine plans.

If you are ordering our pre-carved, slot-head neck to use in conjunction with the PL29 parlor guitar plan, please be aware of the following: Our PL29 plan features a guitar with 24.5" scale and the pre-carved neck that we offer is a 24.9" scale neck. As on the old Martin O shaped guitars, many of the small sized guitars being made today (Goodall, Santa Cruz, Charles Hoffman) use a longer scale length. Doing so locates the bridge nearer the center of the soundboard, thus "sweetening" the sound. Be sure that you place the bridge (and bridge plate) according to the 24.9" scale length on your guitar and not according the placement shown on the plan!
