"I’m about 10 tops into a stack of 40 cedar tops I got from you, and whenever I want to start a new guitar, I just walk over and pick a top off the stack, and start building.
They are all that great! I don’t have to dink around with the pattern, or select the “best" one: I just start building. I love that!  I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your high standards, and what a pleasure it is to do business with you!"

Plan, 1963 Hernández Y Aguado, No. 249, classical guitar

PLAN1963AguadoClassicalCourtnallPL19at1000copyrightThis is a lightly built, Spruce top guitar with characteristically even sound over the whole range. A similar instrument, made two years later in 1965 was played by John Williams on several recordings. He then sold it to Bream, who also recorded with it (photographs of the guitar are featured on their record covers). This is an interesting guitar—a large instrument, but lightly constructed. Drawing by Roy Courtnall Summerfield.
