Testimonials

“It's nice to know that
I have a good
source for quality
guitar wood as
well as guitar parts
fabrication, such as
LMI's fingerboard
slotting service.
As I am only set up
to slot 650mm
fingerboards, you
guys have saved my
butt on making me
several odd scale
lengths recently!
I want you to know
that I appreciate
you guys and the
wood and services
that you supply
to me, a small,
independent luthier.
Your fine fingerboard
slotting service
saves me a lot of
time and trouble,
for which I am grateful.
THANK YOU!"

The dark color tones of a Redwood top are not at all traditional, but the superior musical tone of these soundboards win out over their unconventional appearance. These tops have become popular, proven performers for a wide range of high-end classical and steel string luthiers.

People's preferences for Redwood soundboards vary widely. Some like clear color and many welcome the idiosyncratic streaks and coloration of this species. For this reason, we are offering them in our 'select a set' section so you can choose a top that suits your taste. Variations in price reflect variations in the stiffness of the individual top with stiffer tops costing a bit more.

There is reason to be concerned for dwindling old growth Redwood forests, so we take extra care to make sure that our Redwood is harvested responsibly. LMI is located in northern California, surrounded by Redwood forests, and we want to keep it that way.
