Testimonials

“I recently purchased a beautiful fingerboard from you and now I am thinking of grabbing fretwire from you as well. Unfortunately I'm cheap and lazy and find myself here asking if it is possible to pay more to have your fretwire radiused before it is sent? You guys would be the coolest ever. No matter what the outcome, I will be sending more business your way from here in Maine. Hoping for good news! Thank you!"

Monterey Cypress

BSMontereyCypressbyBobDesmond530Cupressus macrocarpa or Cupressus macnabiana

Monterey Cypress is a close cousin to Spanish Cypress. The wood has a pinkish hue, but the overall appearance is creamy. Monterey is a good alternative to Spanish Cypress which has become increasingly difficult to get. It's a little stronger than Spanish Cypress, works nicely, glues and finishes well, and from all reports is indistinguishable from Spanish Cypress in terms of sound production.

First grade Monterey Cypress has even color and tight grain, and second grade has more color variations and wider grain.

NOTE: We have listed the Monterey Cypress tops here for those who wish to have matching tops, backs and sides.
