“Place an order, it is processed the next business day. Most likely same day if you don't place it at midnight local time. You can track the parcel online. And 6 days later the delivery guy is knocking on my front door. Unbelievable, you get high quality tools and equipment, California to Australia in 6 days. Amazing, LMI is the only place to buy..."

Alaskan Yellow Cedar

Alaskan Yellow Cedar, 1st grade

Chamaecyparis nootkatensis

Alaskan Yellow Cedar (called Canadian Cypress, Yellow-cedar, Alaska Cypress, and Nootka Cypress by some) belongs to a genus so closely related to the true Cypresses that it was once classified with them by botanists. It is one of the most stable of woods in terms of dimensional change due to its low moisture content, and is more immune to cracking than any of the other woods we carry (with the exception being Port Orford Cedar - another Cypress-like tonewood).

Tonally, the wood is especially well suited for flamenco guitars as it’s light weight supports a quick attack and articulate trebles. A growing number of steel string builders these days are gravitating towards the school of thought that says that lower weight back and sides produce the strongest tone, in which case Yellow Cedar should be of great interest. Cosmetically the wood is akin to our highest grade soundboards with tight grain, clear and light color and a lustrous, smooth surface.
