Micro-mesh is a unique, cushioned abrasive consisting of silicone carbide crystal on a resilient layer over a cloth backing. It retains its cutting edge up to sixteen times longer than standard papers, and because the cutting particles are in a floating suspension, you can take smooth cuts as little as .001" at a time, with little heat buildup. Use with soapy water and you can achieve a scratchless mirror finish. You may also use kerosene as a lubricant if you are concerned about grain raising. Micro-mesh has multiple uses for repair and finish work. When polishing out your final finish using water as a lubricant, you can maintain complete control from a smooth, satin surface to a lustrous gloss. Also great for polishing frets! The FMIC Micro-mesh abrasive kit
