This tonewood has been widely used as a solidbody wood, but is now making inroads as a compelling and environmentally friendly back and side wood - with a very low price tag. Visually, it is reminiscent of some Ash and Oak, with a golden blonde color and gray-brown streaks. The grain structure is similar to Mahogany, roey and with some subtle ribbon figure seen here and there. It is substantially lighter in weight than Mahogany, but it is has a surprisingly deep and responsive tap tone. The light color makes it a good candidate for some creative dye work.
