A cast aluminium, teardrop-shaped bending iron designed by Irving Sloane. This updated version has a chrome-like finish, great for sliding the wood against the iron. The iron itself is 6 1/2” long and 3 3/16” in cross section. Width in cross section is 2 1/8” at the widest point. The small side of the iron is particularly useful for small radius bending. The variable heat setting is helpful for finding the optimum heat setting at which various woods will bend. It’s mounted on a hardwood base that has a large hole drilled through it for clamping either vertically or horizontally to your bench. The best bending iron around!
Please Note: Never leave this bending iron on high heat for more than one minute as it may damage the heating element. Aluminum Heating Bands
For bending laminates and purflings, we offer these aluminum bands with SPBPS. These bands, which fit the pipe, support the bend and help transfer heat.
Our stainless steel bending aid makes bending on a pipe or iron a breeze. It has handles and is therefore safer to use as the handles don’t get hot. We still recommend that you use gloves when bending to avoid accidental burns.
The 220v version of our bending iron comes with an American style 2 prong plug. The International Adaptor Kit (SPBLP) will accept this plug and adapt it to almost every country’s plug configuration.
